Brandon Downs, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. Dr. Downs is delighted to serve the needs of men, women, and children at his practice, Orthopaedic Specialists – Performance Therapy Institute in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dr. Downs grew up in Nashville, and he and his brother both followed in their father’s footsteps when they pursued a career in medicine. Dr. Downs attended Belmont University as a Presidential Scholar, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then studied for his medical degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California.

Dr. Downs was awarded the Bertakis and Starich Student Researcher Award for his work as both a student and a clinical researcher in the Department of Orthopaedics Tribology research laboratory. Dr. Downs graduated in the top 10% of his class from Loma Linda University School of Medicine and was an Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) scholar. Election to Alpha Omega Alpha is a lifelong honor awarded to elite physicians in recognition of their professional expertise and dedication.

Dr. Downs undertook his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Memphis, Tennessee. The Campbell Clinic is a world-renowned educational institution that’s highly rated for its leading orthopaedic residency program by US News and World Report as well as other ranking agencies.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Downs received board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He went on to train for his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, a prestigious institution that provides world-leading orthopaedic fellowship programs.

Not content with his already impressive qualifications, Dr. Downs undertook additional specialist training and was awarded a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Downs is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and other leading medical societies.
